Flushing

Flushing is the use of a fluid to remove excessive contamination within an A/C system. Unless extensive contamination is noted - broken desiccant bag, chemical contamination, excessive metal particles - excessive lubrication flushing is not recommended.

With the exception of Ford, and only with their flush agent and their approved equipment, no OEM recommends a chemical flush. Flushing is approved by OEMs if it is a refrigerant flush, and the entire system is flushed.

Flushing only one component does not significantly reduce contamination. Auxiliary filters add a significantly better reliability factor.

On certain failures where the condenser is severely contaminated, it is more economical and effective to replace the condenser rather then attempt a flush, especially given the restrictive designs of current condensers.
