“Drive to Win” a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Through ACDelco’s Promotion with Kurt Johnson

GRAND BLANC, MICH. — NHRA Pro Stock driver Kurt Johnson knows what it is like to win. Johnson, driver of the ACDelco-sponsored Chevrolet Cobalt, holds the longest active streak in Pro Stock by winning at least once race for 12 consecutive seasons, an honor he earned in 2006. And, he finished fifth in the 2006 overall NHRA Pro Stock championship standings, the 14th consecutive year he has placed in the top 10.

Johnson hopes to add to his 35 career total victories in 2007, and consumers and service trade customers alike can win every time he does. ACDelco has teamed up with Kurt Johnson to announce the ACDelco “Drive to Win” promotion, which awards racing trips, scholarships, and prizes, including the grand prize: a 2007 Cobalt SS equipped with Genuine Chevrolet Accessories.

“ACDelco’s 10+ years as Kurt Johnson’s sponsor provide us weekly opportunities to test our automotive aftermarket parts and products under extreme conditions on the track and to promote ACDelco’s quality brand image,” said John Eck, ACDelco merchandising and promotions manager. “Kurt Johnson has a proven record of winning and ACDelco’s ‘Drive to Win’ promotion allows consumers and service trade customers to reap rewards for his victories, too.”

The ACDelco “Drive to Win” promotion launched last weekend at the ACDelco NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla., and runs through October 7, 2007, with the grand-prize winner being decided at the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals on October 28, 2007. This multi-faceted promotion offers opportunities for both consumers and service trade customers alike a chance to win every time Kurt Johnson does:

ACDelco “Drive to Win” Consumer Promotion
Consumers should visit www.acdelco.com and select the “Drive to Win” icon to review official rules and to enter to win one of many instant prizes, including ACDelco-branded inflatable chairs, coolers, footballs, and umbrellas.

Each ACDelco “Drive to Win” promotion registration also generates an entry for a chance to win a trip for two to the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals October 25 – 28, 2007. A trip will be awarded after each time Kurt Johnson wins one of the 20 races outlined in the schedule that appears at the end of this release.

ACDelco will cover travel expenses for three nights and four days to the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals for each trip winner and a guest. At that race, each trip winner will receive a key that could start the promotion’s grand prize: a 2007 Cobalt SS equipped with Genuine Chevrolet Accessories.

ACDelco “Drive to Win” Service Trade Customers Promotion
Service Trade Customers – as defined in the rules, including technicians and shop owners – should visit www.acdelcotechconnect.com and select the “Drive to Win” icon to review official rules and to enter to win one of many instant prizes, including ACDelco-branded clocks, signs, and blankets.

As with the consumer component of the promotion, each ACDelco “Drive to Win” promotion registration also generates an entry for a chance to win a trip for two to the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals October 25 – 28, 2007.

ACDelco “Drive to Win” Scholarship Promotion
Predictions show there will be shortage of qualified automotive technicians in the U.S. in the coming years, with experts estimating more than 30,000 new jobs will be needed annually through 2010. Both ACDelco and Johnson recognize the need for well-qualified personnel and, to further support efforts to recruit future technicians, ACDelco will award a $2,500 scholarship each time Johnson wins

Each scholarship will be awarded to a technician employed at an Independent Service Center (ISC) that participates in ACDelco’s Total Service Support (TSS) program. For detailed information, and a scholarship application, visit www.acdelcotechconnect.com and click on the “Total Service Support” tab.

These “Drive to Win” scholarships are in addition to the five nationwide technician scholarships ACDelco awards through the ACDelco Educational Scholarship Program and will be selected from the same application pool. Those annual scholarships – totaling $12,500 – are exclusively for technicians employed at ACDelco TSS shops; the program also awards $15,000 in scholarships to dependents of ACDelco TSS shop owners.

ACDelco will announce its 2006 Educational Scholarship Program winners, as well as the 2007 Educational Scholarship Program, later this month.

ACDelco “The Pros Who Know” Racing Rig
The “Drive to Win” grand prize – a 2007 Cobalt SS equipped with Genuine Chevrolet Accessories – will be on display at the ACDelco “The Pros Who Know” Racing Rig, which includes an impressive interactive display housed in a 53’ trailer. It features Kurt Johnson’s NHRA Pro Stock show car and an NHRA drag racing reaction time game, in addition to product video demonstrations. It will appear at 2007 NHRA races and select locations throughout the year.

Awarding of ACDelco “Drive to Win” Grand Prize
At a ceremony at the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals, ACDelco “Drive to Win” First Prize winners will have an opportunity to win the promotion’s grand prize. Each of these Finalists will receive a key but only one lucky winner’s key will start the 2007 Cobalt SS equipped with Genuine Chevrolet Accessories.
