Are you one of those technicians who believes you can’t use one brand of replacement parts for all makes and models of vehicles? WHAT ARE THE TYPICAL CAUSES OF BRAKE SYSTEM WEAR-OUT?Several factors can cause brake pads and rotors to get to the wear-out mode, including normal wear, severe use, rust degradation, multiple hydraulic problems and consumer neglect. HOW DO YOU BEGIN TO DIAGNOSE THIS REPAIR?The Ford Police Interceptor was in for routine preventative maintenance and, upon brake inspection, the front brake rotors showed hot spots and light metal fractures, indicating the pads were ready for replacement.
